About Pop Smoke
Bashar Barakah Jackson (b. July 20, 1999, d. February 19, 2020), better known by his stage name Pop Smoke, was a rapper from Canarsie, Brooklyn, New York. He started getting popularity from his April 2019 single “Welcome To The Party,” which was boosted by support from A$AP Ferg. Smoke also used a signature and distinguishable drill-style rap in his music, the style that is typically seen in the UK rap scene.
In an interview with Real 92.3 LA, Pop Smoke cited some of his main influences being 50 Cent, DMX and Meek Mill.
His debut project, Meet the Woo, was released on July 26, 2019.
In August 2019, multiple remixes of “Welcome To The Party” were released, further boosting the song and Smoke’s popularity. Smoke continued his rise even later in 2019, having a high-profile placement on Houston rapper Travis Scott and JACKBOYS‘ December 2019 track “GATTI.”
In 2020, his meteoric rise to fame continued with the release of his second project Meet the Woo 2 on February 7.
Tragically, Smoke was shot and killed in a home invasion in Los Angeles, California on February 19, 2020. He was 20 years old.
Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon is Pop Smoke’s debut studio album, his first posthumous project, and his first project since his February 2020 mixtape, “Meet The Woo 2”, which was released 12 days before he was murdered at his home in Los Angeles, California. His debut album is expected to release on July 3, 2020.
American rapper 50 Cent announced that his posthumous debut studio album would be released in May 2020. On May 14, 2020, Steven Victor, Pop’s manager, revealed the release date of the album to be June 12, 2020. However, it was postponed to July 3, 2020 to show respect for the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests for innocent black people being murdered by police and other races.
However, on the date the album was supposed to release, Pop released its lead single, “Make It Rain,” featuring GS9 member Rowdy Rebel. Rowdy was incarcerated at the time of the single’s release, which is why his verse was recorded by a collect call, a system in which inmates use to make phone calls to people.
A tracklist was unveiled in an app posted in his Instagram biography. Directions for the album tracklist was posted to his Instagram, which boasts features from 50 Cent, DaBaby, Future, KAROL G, King Combs, Lil Baby, Polo G, Quavo, Roddy Ricch, Rowdy Rebel, Swae Lee, & Tyga.
Here’s the Tracklist for Pop Smoke’s ‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon’ Posthumous Album
Aside from revealing a now-scrapped Virgil Abloh-designed cover for Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, Steven Victor of the Victor Victor label recently shared the tracklist for Pop Smoke‘s upcoming posthumous album.
Comprised of 19-tracks in total, the project from the late rapper features 18 unreleased cuts with “Dior” serving as the final bonus addition to the list. Although Pop Smoke’s time in the industry was short, the rapper was able to work a number of notable artists. Standout features on Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon come from Future, DaBaby, Lil Baby, Quavo, Swae Lee, Roddy Ricch, 50 Cent, Tyga and Karol G. Victor also noted that vocals from Lil Tjay have just come in and are awaiting clearance to make its way on the album.

This Friday, fans will finally be able to listen to Pop Smoke’s debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. Over the past few months, there have been rumblings about the project with Steven Victor as well as 50 Cent sharing updates. Earlier today, his manager Steven Victor shared the official cover art designed by Virgil Abloh with a heartfelt message about Pop Smoke.
Shortly after, Steven Victor shared a link for fans to discover the album’s tracklist. Taking to his Instagram Story, he shared a post from a Pop Smoke fan page that directed fans www.shootforthestars.app where fans point their phone cameras to the sky where individual track names are revealed. Of course, the world of Twitter got a hold of the tracklist in some sort of variation and shared it with the timeline.
The project is stacked with nine songs and major guest features like 50 Cent, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, DaBaby, and Quavo, who appears three times. There’s also a track with Karol G and Swae Lee. “West Coast Shit” ft. Tyga and Quavo is presumably the song Tyga teased on Instagram over the weekend.
The project includes “Make It Rain” with Rowdy Rebel but fans quickly pointed out that “Dior” serves as a bonus track on the project.
